Minimum Qualifications:

Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the ND Board of Nursing and one year of work experience as a Registered Nurse.   Requires interpersonal skills and communication skills necessary to perform job duties and must have ability to work with an inmate population on a daily basis.  Strong clinical skills required.  Psychiatric and medical-surgical background preferred, but not necessary. 

Individual must be flexible and innovative in carrying out assigned responsibilities.  Must successfully complete standard background and criminal record check.

If unable to find qualified applicants, the DOCR will consider under filling as a Registered Nurse I, with a salary range between $2,961-$3,948 per month.  Minimum qualifications require licensure as a Registered Nurse by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.

Summary of Work:

The individual will work as a team member in an infirmary setting and within the Medical and Psychiatric Service Program.  The position requires a holistic approach to health care service with emphasis on health maintenance through patient education and positive self-initiative.  Specific duties include but are not limited to:  provision of health care nursing to the inmate population; dispensing medication; emergency nursing care; participation in behavioral management procedures and infection control; thorough documentation of patient care and medical records; and individual, group and wellness education.
