Minimum Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma and one year of office support, clerical or secretarial work experience. Coursework in a vocational office support or closely related program may substitute for the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis if it provided the knowledge and skills required to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

Minimum typing speed of 50 wpm with no more than 5 errors.  Must complete the typing, Microsoft Word and Excel tests at Job Service.

Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills needed for performing job duties.  Preference may be given to those individuals who have experience with Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and possess prioritization and time management skills.  Individual must be flexible and innovative in carrying out assigned responsibilities.  Must successfully complete standard background and criminal record check.

Summary of Work:

Individual may have some interaction with inmates.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: organization and filing of medical records; thinning medical charts; maintaining current information in medical files for providers; prepare medical record releases and provisions of medical records to outside agencies and providers with signed release of information; check downtown appointments to make sure reports of patient consults have been received by outside providers; set up new files for new arrivals; pull classification medical files and other duties as assigned. The primary work location for this position is at the North Dakota State Penitentiary.  On some occasions the work location will be at the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan, ND.
